How to stop debt collector harassment
Your first step to halting the harassment of a debt collector\s is to begin logging everything. Every communication you have with a debt collector needs to be documented. Phone calls, voice mails, letters, everything. Make notes of the conversation, the time and date of the contact and any other pertinent information. Save all voice mails and paper messages from the debt collector, including the envelopes they were delivered in. Bring this information with you when meeting with your attorney.
The attached form can be used to help you document all correspondence with debt collectors and make it easier for your attorney to put an end to the harassment. You may be entitled to financial compensation if a debt collector has broken the law while attempting to collect a debt from you. This page is for informational purposes and should be used as an aid only, any counter advice given by your attorney should be followed in leui of this page. Each situation is different.
